On the evening of February 21 (local time in New York), the TOTY Awards was officially announced at the opening evening of the 117th New York International Toy Fair.

In this year's TOTY Awards, 16 sub-categories of awards, were selected from 114 shortlisted products through expert and industry selection and public online voting, the "Toy of the Public Choice” and the "Toy of the Year Award” were selected through public online voting.

MGA Entertainment became the biggest winner. With its L.O.L. Surprise, the company won the "Toy of the Year" crown with the highest gold content for the third time, and also won the “Doll of the Year” and “Toy Collection of the Year” awards. Mattel and Lego are also not inferior in any respect. Mattel has won the four prizes of the year: the Best Movable Toy, the Best Game of the Year, the Best Infant Toy and the Best Vehicle Toy, while Lego has won the three prizes of the year: the Best Inserting Block, the Best STEM/STEAM Toy and the Best Featured Toy.

This year's TOTY Awards also show three major development trends of the toy industry.

Trend 1

IP authorization plays an increasingly important role in toy industry.

Of the 17 products awarded this year, 7 are IP-authorized toys. The scope of IP- authorized toys ranges from movies and TV programs to children's songs, and is constantly expanding.
